There’s never been a time in history that has experienced this much disruption.
Technological advancements are literally changing the way we work, drive, do business and access healthcare. With technology advancing at such a rapid rate, even markets that have been stable for decades are experiencing major uncertainty.
In the past, we have typically experienced one major technological disruption at a time. Today, however, we face a constant onslaught of disruptive technology from every angle, affecting every industry.
At present, there are eight disruptive technologies that are changing the world. These disruptors include 5G, Blockchain, autonomous vehicles, renewable energy, quantum physics, advancements in healthcare, and AI and robotics. The majority, if not all of these disruptors, operate collectively and can benefit from the other’s continued advancement.
If you’re a business leader, it’s unlikely that your business won’t be affected in some way by disruptive technology. The thought of this can be terrifying! It can also be incredibly exciting, because with disruption comes new opportunities. Opportunities to innovate, to tap into new markets, reach new customers and build upon your existing services or products.
Right now, the reality is that while these incredible innovations and opportunities exist, the world is facing major challenges, from the climate crisis to huge economic pressure, and businesses are feeling the pinch.
So how as a business leader, entrepreneur or employee can you thrive in such a rapidly advancing world?
Through efficiency and productivity.
Here’s why: Efficient companies will be highly sought after by clients, while productive employees will be highly sought after by companies.
If you want to become more efficient as a business, you need to make your employees more productive. This will ultimately enable you to do more work in less time, reducing your cost base, enabling you to make more money in a market that is being squeezed everywhere.
The concept sounds relatively straightforward, but the actual implementation can be challenging, if not overwhelming and daunting.
